1月5-12日，应城市环境研究所朱永官所长和郑煜铭研究组邀请，ES＆T杂志副主编、美国德克萨斯大学埃尔帕索分校JorgeLuis, Gardea-Torresdey教授访问城市环境研究所。 

　　Gardea教授向研究所科研人员做了两场题为“How to Get Published In Scientific & Engineering Journals”和“Cerium oxide nanoparticles exposure to bean plants modifies physiological characteristics and shows translocation to the next trophic level: Are there implications in plant nutrition and human health?”的精彩学术报告。访问期间，Gardea教授与相关研究组科研人员就环境科学与技术领域的研究热点问题进行了深入的交流。 

　　JorgeLuis, Gardea -Torresdey教授简介： 

　　Dr. Jorge Gardea-Torresdey is the Dudley Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He was Editor of the Journal of hazardous material from 2007 to 2010, and in January 1, 2011, he was appointed Associate Editor of Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T). 

　　Dr. Gardea has authored over 350 publications and issued 5 US patents for environmental remediation. The scientific contributions of Dr. Gardea have allowed him to receive many honors throughout his professional life. He received the 2009 SACNAS distinguished Scientist of the Year Award and he was awarded the 2012 Piper Professor Award, which is the most prestigious honor conferred to a Professor in the State of Texas.
